What is a Registry? A Registry is, in the simplest terms, a list of caregivers. The Heartworks Registry is made up of highly qualified caregivers, and housekeepers, who have been carefully screened, and who possess the following qualities: Compassion, Trustworthiness, Commitment, Dependability, and Common Sense.
What are the advantages to a Registry? There are several advantages. First, the caregivers who make up the Registry are all independent, and some have other employment (many in the health field). Since they are not employees of Heartworks, the overhead costs are reduced dramatically. And, because Heartworks is not an agency, each care situation is assessed on an individual basis, according to clients’ needs. Also, following implementation of a care plan and placement of referred caregivers, Heartworks remains involved. If a caregiver, then, is unable to work, another caregiver will be placed to maintain continuous care. If a problem of any kind should arise the staff at Heartworks is always available to work out a solution.
Will insurance cover the cost of care through Heartworks? Although there are several long term care insurance policies who accept in home care through a Registry, for the most part, the cost of care is on a “private pay” basis.
What is the “ballpark figure” I can expect to pay for care? An average hourly rate a caregiver will charge is in the range of $17 - $20, depending on the level of skill required. Heartworks fees include a one-time referral fee which ranges from $50 - $150, and an ongoing involvement cost of between $3 and $5 per hour.
How do the individual caregivers get paid? Clients are responsible for making regular payments to caregivers.
Are any of the caregivers Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.)? The Registry includes caregivers at various skill levels, from Companion, Personal Care Aide, Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, to Registered Nurse.
How does Heartworks get paid? Heartworks will send a monthly invoice to each client for services.
What other services, besides caregiving, are offered through Heartworks? Housekeeping services, companion situations, and short-term, long-term, and end of life care.
